The Buzz chain of convenience stores and three Chinese dailies 联合早报 / 新民日报 / 晚报 collaborated to release a series of teacups as Chinese New Year giveaways to their readers. ampulets went all monkey for the designs.
The client Singapore Press Holdings's brief was for a design that reflected the taste of today's readers, yet retained the Chinese New Year's traditional symbols for what is joyful, prosperous and lucky. We created 8 illustrations that interpreted 8 auspicious phrases and well-wishes for the year of the monkey, retaining the red and gold colours for traditionalists while injecting joyful polka dots for the young at heart.
